Why Squarespace has quickly become my favourite platform for health practitioners
My very first experience in designing a website was just before I graduated back in 2016.
Being a broke full time student I didn’t have any spare funds to hire someone to design it and was relatively tech savvy so gave it a go myself.
Man was the a rabbit hole!!!!!
This was my first ever website made for my business…. yikes!
I vividly remember getting home at 5pm from my “day job” on a Friday afternoon and sitting on the couch to start the design ( Im pretty sure I’d already spent a few hours on it already) Hubby headed out to the pub at 6 pm and before I knew it he was home and it was 11 pm and I was still playing around with it!!!
About 12 months later I decided to re-do it completely and started again. It was a vast improvement but although the design was much better it still looked like the template I’d used and looked cluttered.
I’ve been focusing more on my NVA business for the past 12 months so haven’t really looked at it recently but saw that my subscription was coming up for renewal for that website so have decided to move to Squarespace.
And here is why..
SIMPLE, MODERN & EASY TO NAVIGATE
Your website is the first impression of your business and who you are as a practitioner. You have just a few seconds to get your message across about who you are, what you treat, what makes you different and where you are.
If your home page is cluttered, hard to read, has way to much writing (like my first website did) and isn’t aesthetically appealing visitors are likely to move on and keep searching. Yes its harsh, but its true.
EASY TO USE
Ok, yes wix is easier but it can also look more “DIY” because of this. Once you get use to using spacers and choosing the right images, Squarespace really it just a drag-and-drop situation too.
Plus there are NO PLUGINS to install and maintain (or pay someone to maintain) like there is with Wordpress. Everything you need is right there in Squarespace - like my favourite scheduling platform Acuity
The modern template look professional and therefor will make you look professional also.
IT’S AFFORDABLE
Depending on what level of inclusions you need for the website, it’s between $16-25 a month ( If I design your site, you get 20% off your first year) You can may more than that for a developer to maintain your Wordpress site!!
IT FORMATS TO ALL DEVICES
With over 60% of website visitors being on mobile devices nowadays, this is vital!! Squarespace automatically adjusts text and images for mobile and tablet versions. You do need to check when designing if text is overlaying an image but its a simple move of the focus spot to adjust this.

You’re probably thinking “why would someone hack into my website” Well there are some pretty gross people out there that will literally hold it for ransom unless you pay them… and let’s not forget about some sneaky tactics of those that follow “They who shall not be named” but would do anything to take us praccies down.
You never know whats lurking in those plug ins for Wordpress sites.
Squarespace has an amazing round the clock support team to take care of any mishaps like mistakingly deleted pages too!!
